Sophomore Chris Brienza defeated teammate freshman Tyler McGann,
6-1, to ensure a St. Anthony's win in the
96-pound division. It was Brienza's first
qualifying appearance in the Catholic State
Tournament. The two teammates scrapped at each
other the full six minutes — both hungry for a
win, yet neither able to pin the other.

| Having only
wrestled for 2 years, many outsiders doubted
Jimmy Morris and didn't give him much of a
chance to compete at the state level. He would
prove these people wrong throughout the entire
tournament. Jimmy would win his first match in
nail biting fashion, 4-2 and would face off
against the top seed in the quarter finals.

Joe Kavanagh is currently a junior at Wantagh
High School, has been a VHW member since August
of 2007. Joe has been in the Section 8 County
finals in 2008 at 152lbs and 2009 at 171lbs. Won
Section 8 County’s at 171lbs in 2009. Joe won
NYS Freestyle Championships in 2009 and was a
National All American in 2008 Finishing 6th
was a National All American in 2009
